Day 9 was by far the most miserable day of our Philmont trek. It rained and POURED all day! You can tell by how few pictures I took -- I didn't want to get my camera wet. It was not only wet but also cold -- the temperature never climbing out of the 50s. We were seriously concerned about hypothermia (and found out later that another crew had to treat two boys for it). We made everyone put on their rain coats and pants, but it still wasn't warm enough. So after a quick 11am lunch, we all set up our tents and climbed into our sleeping bags just to stay warm. At 4pm, we got up to cook supper...some boys ate it in the Red Roof Inn (outhouse) just stay dry! This was the kind of day that builds character.
