During July 15-30, 2010, twelve lucky Scouts and dads (a full
crew) from
Troop72.com in Chippewa Falls,
Wisconsin embarked on a great adventure:
PHILMONT!
Here are a some photos I took with my
FZ50 camera.
This page of photos are from Day 6, Pueblano to Miranda to Ute Meadows. We got to sleep in until 5:30 today, since we had an 8:00 appointment in Pueblano for spar pole climbing. The boys really liked that! They were told to yell something unique at the top, but the staff said this is the first time they've seen anyone play bugle from the top of the pole. This was our toughest day yet for hiking -- it was ALL uphill! We dropped off Jack the Burro in Miranda, but all the black powder slots were filled by the time we got there, due to our late start. :-( But we did still get a great demo on fur trading, and got to throw some hatchets. It took us an hour to find a campsite in Ute Meadows, but we finally set up camp, got water from the creek, and fell to sleep exhausted, mentally preparing for the BIG DAY tomorrow: Mt. Baldy! - Tom Arneberg (toma@arneberg.com)Jump to another day of the expedition: |
